Healthy Backpack Tips

Wearing a backpack that doesn’t fit right or is too heavy can strain growing backs  and shoulders.  Here are some great tips  from the physical therapy professionals  at Riverside Healthcare:

  1. Carry no more than 10-15% of your body weight
  2. Use both shoulder straps and adjust them so that pack is snug to the body.
  3. Pack heaviest items closest to body.
  4. Carry only what’s necessary for the day.
  5. Bottom of pack should not hang lower than the waist.
