Risk Factors and Warning Signs of Suicide
September is suicide prevention month. As the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S, the 3rd leading cause of death for people aged 10-14 and the 2nd leading cause of death for people aged 15–24, anyone can have thoughts of suicide and may act on them. Relationship problems with friends or family members, school/job issues including poor performance, cyber bullying and recent crises like a death or significant loss are common triggers.
In this edition of HealthCurrents we discuss suicide risk factors and warning signs and where to get help for yourself or someone you care about.
