June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month

Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month is observed in June as an opportunity to spread the word about and discuss Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Keep your brain sharp by incorporating these healthy habits into your life.

  1. Fuel Your Body

The foods that you eat matter. Be sure to fill your diet with a balance of fruits and vegetables daily.

  1. Get Enough Sleep

Seven (7) hours of sleep are recommended for adults to stay at their best. Setting a sleep and wake-up time can help to keep you on track and in a regular cycle.

  1. Be aware of your Mental Health

Studies have linked depression with cognitive decline. Prioritize your mental health and be sure to seek help when you need it.

  1. Challenge Your Mind

Don’t be afraid to try something new. Your brain likes to be challenged. Finding activities that involve strategy help to break up the monotony of day-to-day activities and exercise your brain.

  1. Engage with Others

Put yourself in situations where you get to be a part of a community. Keeping social engagement, a priority helps to keep your mind active.

Try to prioritize these 5 items in your daily life to keep your brain engaged in healthy ways!
